Item Distribution

Item Distribution

Item Distribution

Item Distribution allows you to create multiple transfers from a single, or multiple purchase orders, transfer orders, or   receivers.  You can also manually add items from the source location to distribute to multiple locations (much like transfer   orders).

Creating a New Item Distribution

To create a new Item Distribution, start by selecting New under Merchandising/Item Distribution.
Next, enter a name (title) for the distribution so you can search for it later and enter the date the transfer from the source location will take place.  Then select your source location from the Distribute From location list.  This could be a warehouse or a central order location.  Then you will select the location(s) you are distributing to, or the locations that will be receiving the items.  Once selected, click SAVE.

The Item Distribution window will reload with your source and destination locations.  Here you will select how you will be adding items to the distribution list.

Selecting from an existing order

You can select items from an existing order by choosing the order type in the source drop down.  The selection made will determine the options available in the drop down to the right.  For this example, we will use Purchase Order.  From the drop down next to the source field, select the order you want to distribute from.  To add more than one order, choose each one separately.  The item list will update in both quantity and new items.

The items contained in the selected order or receiver will update in the list.  The Quantity Available column will show the total quantity available to distribute.  This will be the sum of the quantity of items from all selected orders.

You will also see the Quantity on Hand for each of your destination locations.  This can help you in determining how to distribute the items across the locations.

To distribute the items to the destination locations, click AUTO DISTRIBUTE above the source drop down.  This will then display three (3) ways to distribute.

1. Distribute Evenly Across Locations:  This will give each location the same amount of product.

2. Distribute Evenly Across Locations, but don't go above Max Restock Level:  This will give each location similar amounts, but will not go above the max restock level assigned in Item Location Details.

3. Distribute According to Min/Max for each location:  This will give each location the amount needed to meet their minimum reorder, but not go above the maximum restock level.

Once you have distributed the quantity available, you can reset the distributed quantities by clicking the Reset QTY at the top of the Item Distribution Details panel.  The Reset QTY button will only be enabled AFTER quantities have been distributed.

The sum of the distributed quantity to each location cannot exceed the quantity on hand for the source location.

Once you have distributed the available quantities, you can create the transfers.  Locate the Create Transfers button in the top right corner of the Item Distribution Details panel.  This will create and place Transfer Orders for each destination location.  You can view each transfer by going to the Transfer Order Lookup page.

If you have receivers enabled, you will need to create a receiver for each location when the items are received at the destination.
